Dr. Jenni Vartiainen discovered during her academic research at University of Helsinki that childrens attitude towards science are formed in preschools. Her data was collected with a research team from hosting over 1.000 science clubs for children in the age of 3 to 6.

During this research period, the clubs had gained such strong popularity among families that they wanted more. In processing the positive feedback, the idea of establishing what eventually became Kide Science rose.

First - Aino Kuronen, joined as a cofounder. She had previously worked as a science club teacher and also co-developed the playful science education model Kide Science uses.

But they needed a businesswoman. And that’s where our guest - Sari Hurme-Mehtälä - came into the picture.

After having two kids, she was at a point in her life where she wanted to do something more meaningful, rather than continuing her otherwise well established corporate career.

So when she was presented the opportunity to join Aino and Jenny it didn’t take long till she accepted and therefore joined as the 3rd and final co-founder of Kide Science.
